Upgrade to eTrust® PestPatrol Anti-Spyware r8

To upgrade eTrust® PestPatrol Anti-Spyware r5 to eTrust PestPatrol Anti-Spyware r8, you must uninstall eTrust PestPatrol Anti-Spyware r5 and then install eTrust PestPatrol Anti-Spyware r8.

Uninstall eTrust PestPatrol Anti-Spyware r5

To complete this procedure, perform the following steps.

To uninstall eTrust PestPatrol Anti-Spyware r5

  1. Click Start, Settings, Control Panel.

    The Control Panel items appear.

  2. Double-click Add or Remove Programs.

    The Add or Remove Programs dialog appears.

  3. Select the eTrust PestPatrol program and click Remove.

    The Add or Remove Programs dialog appears asking if you want to remove this software.

  4. Click Yes.

    Uninstallation begins and the eTrust PestPatrol - Uninstallation Preferences dialog appears.

  5. Select Unschedule any scheduled scans and Remove data files and folders, then click OK.

    The Restart Required dialog appears.

  6. Click OK to restart your computer.

    The software is removed from your system. You can now follow the pre-installation tasks and installation instructions to install eTrust PestPatrol Anti-Spyware r8.

Pre-Installation Tasks

  • To install this product, you must be logged in as a user with administrator privileges.
  • Uninstall or shut down any existing anti-spyware software running on your PC.
  • It is assumed that you have a connection to the Internet prior to installation, because the product attempts to connect to the Internet during installation to receive the most current updates.
  • Close all programs currently running on your PC.

Install eTrust PestPatrol Anti-Spyware r8

To complete this procedure, perform the following steps.

To install eTrust PestPatrol Anti-Spyware r8

  1. Download the eTrust PestPatrol Anti-Spyware installation file and double-click the file.

    The installation wizard extracts the necessary files and the License Agreement dialog appears.

  2. Read the agreement. If you agree with the terms of the License Agreement, scroll to the end of the agreement and click I agree.

    Note: If you click I disagree, the installation ends.


    If you click I agree, the Product License Key dialog appears.

    Note: The 20-character alphanumeric license key was emailed to you after your purchase.You must enter the key exactly as it appears in the email. If you have difficulty with the license key, or if you cannot find your license key, click Online License Help.

  3. Enter your license key and click Next.


    The Installation Location dialog appears.

  4. Specify the installation folder for eTrust PestPatrol Anti-Spyware and click Install.

    Note: The default installation folder is C:\Program Files\CA\eTrust Internet Security Suite. To install the product to a different folder, enter the folder name in the Destination folder field, or click Browse to select the appropriate folder.

    When the installation is almost complete, the Restart Required dialog appears, prompting you to restart your computer.

  5. Click OK to restart your computer and complete the installation.


    eTrust PestPatrol Anti-Spyware r8 is now installed.
